Dr M. Fawzi Mahomoodally

Fawzi holds a life sciences degree. He secured the competitive Tertiary Education Commission postgraduate national scholarship for his MPhil/PhD. He is also a Harvard University Alumni and has worked as a clinical trial manager for a contract research organisation involved in clinical studies and testing new products. He is presently the Head of Department and associate professor at the Department of Health Sciences, and has been nominated as the TWAS-ROSSA young Affiliate (2012-2016), member of the Global Young Academy (2013-2016), recipient of the Young Promising Scientist from Mauritius to attend the TWAS/BVA.NXT Biovision 2012 Egypt and the ASM Young Leader grant to Boston, USA (2013). Fawzi has authored 150 full publications and 40 abstracts in international/national conferences. He is presently the Principal Investigator (PI) and co-PI of 7 research grants/consortium regionally/internationally. Fawzi is an active researcher and the principal supervisor of > 80 undergraduate, 6 MSc, 7 MPhil/PhD (ongoing) and 2 completed PhDs working on complementary and alternative medicine
