In the present study, a total of four species of biodegrading bacteria namely Bacillus subtilis, Eschericia coli, Staphylococcus aereus and Pseudomonas putida were isolated from soil samples collected from the sites where lead and mercury were discharged. The effect of various physico-chemical parameters on growth of these bacteria was also studied.
