    <abstract language="eng">Sphaeranthus indicus which is known as "Gorakhmundi" is a medicinal plant which is also used as insecticides. 2500 ppm concentration was found to inhibit feeding to Callosobruchus chinensis rared on Cicer arietinum seeds. The plant extract when examined chemically gave a Sesquiterpene lectone which is responsible for phagodeterrant activity.</abstract>
