ABSTRACT: A field experiment was conducted to study the effect of different concentrations of Polyamine (Putrescine) on leaf growth in relation to productivity of tomato. Six concentrations of Putrescine (20, 40, 60, 80 and 100 μM) were taken along with control. Among them 80 μM showed maximum plant height, number of leaves, leaf area, number of flowers, fruits, harvest index and total yield. Structure of stomata and stomatal frequency were also influenced by application of Put. 100 μM also showed significant effect on growth and productivity but it was less than 80 μM. Put also affect chlorophyll, Carotenoid, Ascorbic acid, total soluble sugar and protein content of the tomato. This suggests that Putrescine (80 μM) could be used as the best concentration for enhancing the growth and productivity of tomato.
