ABSTRACT |
|
|
The ethanolic extract of dried leaves of Nerium indicum Mill. (Family Apocynaceae) and Martynia annua (Family Martynaceae) were prepared and screened for their antimicrobial and anti fungal activity. N. indicum show significant antibacterial and anti fungal activity as compared to M. annua and standard drug (Ampicillin and Griseofulvin respectively). The microbial culture used for the present study are Bacillus subtilis, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and S. aureus (bacterial strains) and Aspergillus niger and Candida albicans (fungal strains). The cultures were obtained from the Department of Microbiology, Barkatullah University and Gandhi Medical College, Bhopal. |
